Summary of the Model
This model functions as a **political compass of psychopathology**, mapping ideologies and mental states onto a grid defined by two fundamental axes: **Focus** (Individual vs. Collective) and **Process** (Structure vs. Creativity).
This map helps locate concepts, behaviors, and ideologies to understand their dynamics. Key examples include:
- **Economic Systems & Actors:** The model places economic forces within the collective sphere. **Corporations**, as legal entities, represent a high degree of Collective Structure. **Billionaires** and those with extreme wealth concentration are placed as a pathological form of this quadrant, using established systems for immense personal gain at the expense of the collective. In contrast, **Philanthropy** is a form of balanced Collective Creativity (Q4). Pre-monetary systems like **Tribal/Gift Economies** represent a unique balance between collective structure and creativity.
- **Spiritual Frameworks:** The major **Abrahamic Religions** are powerful forms of Collective Structure (Q3). **Animism** represents Collective Creativity (Q4). Personal disciplines like **Buddhism** blend individual structure with collective awareness, while **Taoism**, focusing on balance, sits at the center.
- **Psychological Conditions:** **OCD**, **GAD**, and **Major Depression (MDD)** represent pathological internal structure (Q1). **Bipolar Disorder** oscillates between the creative mania of Q2 and the structured depression of Q1.
- **Political Ideologies & Pathologies:** **Conservatism** resides in balanced Collective Structure (Q3), while **Liberalism** and **Democratic Socialism** represent a spectrum of Collective Creativity (Q4). **Fascism** and **Communism** are their respective pathological extremes. **Anarchy** is the pathological extreme of Individual Creativity (Q2).
The goal is to understand how these forces interact and to recognize that a healthy system—whether an individual or a society—requires a dynamic balance between all four quadrants, not a rigid adherence to one.
