How to Play: "Sensory Profile" (The Card Sort)

Goal: To discover and create a visual map of your personal sensory needs. Remember, each player needs their own set of cards to sort!

  1. Get Your Cards: Print and cut out all the cards from the three decks (❤️ Likes, ⚡ Triggers, and 🌿 Soothers/Helpers). Mix them all into one big pile.
  2. Set Up Your Sorting Area: On a large, flat surface, make labels for your sorting categories. Good ones to start with are: Like, Dislike / Trigger, Soother / Helper, Neutral, and Unsure / Want to Explore.
  3. Sort the Cards (One by One): Draw a card from your big pile. Read it and think about how that specific thing makes you feel. Place the card under the category label that fits best for you. There are no wrong answers!
  4. Review Your Profile: Once all the cards are sorted, take a look at your piles. This is your personal sensory profile! Notice any patterns. This is the foundation for your sensory safety plan and for playing the "Sensory Solutions" game next.
